Toddler Potty Training Essentials
Welcome to Dragon Mama
Motherhood requires strength, the type of strength possesed by a mythological creature, standing tall guarding her young and teaching them to let their heart soar. (And, I wouldn't be surprised if my kids said I breathed fire a time or two.) I don't claim to be a flawless or fearless mother, nor do I have any definitive answers to childhood problems. I don't claim to know whether one parenting style is superior to another. I just strive everyday to make sure my kids know they are special and they are loved. Loved infinitely, unconditionally and forever. Dragon Mama focuses on the ways I show love to my kids, striving to keep them happy and healthy. Of course, I have some tips and tricks I've learned from mommying my 3 dragons.
THE STORY BEHIND THE BLOG
When I imagined being a mother, I pictured setting up tea parties and fluffing up glittery princess dresses. Fastforward to reality. There are no delicate doilies underneath porcelain cups or sparkly tiaras atop bouncy curls. In fact, I don't buy anything breakable. In our house, there are dinosaur roars, superheros capes, jeans with holes in the knees, and perpetual roughhousing. I have three little boys, or dragons, as my husband calls them. I couldn't be happier to be their Dragon Mama, and I can't imagine life any other way. This blog is about how I keep my sweet firey wild ones happy and healthy, while trying to keep my sanity. And just because I have active, athletic warriors don't think there isn't baking, decorating and dancing.
I am 38 years old. I have been married 11 years and am a mother of 3 boys ages 8, 6 and 3. My comfort show is Gilmore Girls (Team Logan!) I love ice cream, Starbucks, and Nicholas Sparks books.
I chose to be a mostly stay at home mom (working some from home) years ago, but the pandemic threw me into a "at home ALL THE TIME mom." Now, my youngest is heading to school and I'm thinking about getting back into the working world.
Even though I am a licensed lawyer, I don't find my education wasted at home. In Iaw school, I Iearned the importance of relentless preparation and thorough research. This means my workaholic focus is on my dragons right now.
So when I write a blog entry, you know I've scoured resources and imagined all the different ways to build a box fort, decorate a bicycle for the Fourth of July or create a dessert with hidden veggies. (Disclaimer: this doesn't mean my execution will always pan out. I'll be sure to share my failures too!)
I've also experienced the HARD parts of parenting including Hyperemesis Gravidarum, Gestational Diabetes, and Postpartum Anxiety. Check out my self care section to see how I have dealt with these conditions and more.
