Freshly sharpened pencils, clean crisp paper, crayons of every color of the rainbow. I love the beginning of a new school year. My kids start school in exactly one month. It's time to start preparing for the year and get all the things they will need to be comfortable, safe, successful and happy while on campus. I get way too excited about school supplies. I made a list of the things I need to do before my little students start kindergarten and second grade, but I think this is pretty universal, even for kids going into high school.
While going through and checking off my list, I always consult and involve my little dragons. For example, they get to pick out their backpacks and lunch pails, and we have already been discussing what they will want to eat at school. My kids wear uniforms but there are several choices they can pick from, so I talk to them about what they like to wear most.

I put this list on my refrigerator and highlight or cross off the things I have done as I go. I made this list into a PDF if it helps anyone else stay organized. Download below!
