The Cat in the Hat is perhaps the most recognizable Dr. Seuss character of them all. So what better day to celebrate with the Cat in the Hat than Dr. Seuss's birthday, March 2nd! This year it happens to be on a Tuesday. If you don't have the book, you can watch a read aloud, which I linked below. There is also one season of a Cat in the Hat series on Netflix, and there are Cat in the Hat episodes on the PBS kids app. Of course, you can purchase the book here and the movie here.
Dress Up: Wear something atop your head! Pick any hat that you love or one that reminds you of a Dr. Seuss character. Or stack as many on your head as you can. How many hats did Bartholomew Cubbins have? Here are some fun examples!
Of course, we start with the Cat...
In honor of Horton Hears a Who...
If the Grinch is your favorite character...
We can't forget Thing 1 and Thing 2...
Are you a fan of Fox in Socks?
What about Sam I Am?
And, the sweetest of them all, Cindy Lou Who...
Treat: Cat in the Hat Strawberry 🍓 Parfaits
This treat is the simplest of them all! Simply layer strawberries with either whipped cream or yogurt. One tip to get the layers to look even is to make sure to pack your strawberries so not too much of white layer leaks through. You could probably even get a similar look with sliced strawberries and bananas. If you really want some straight precise lines, use Jello! For a recipe using Jello brand click here. For a "healthier" version that uses juice, click here.
Bonus Snack: Cat in the Hat String Cheese. All you have to do is draw on the healthy snack. Check these out from Catch My Party.
Craft/Art: Draw your favorite Dr. Seuss Character! Check out these videos that teach kids to draw various Dr. Seuss Characters. Pick one or do them all!
